Swinging Sodai

Arijeet Chanda curated an exhibition on Sodai, a traditional Lithuanian craft recognized as part of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage. Held at the Delhi Crafts Museum, New Delhi, the exhibition introduced Indian audiences to the intricate geometric ornaments that have been an important part of Lithuanian cultural traditions for generations. Through this initiative, Arijeet promoted international cultural exchange while celebrating the preservation of traditional craftsmanship, demonstrating how art and heritage can connect communities across geographical and cultural boundaries.

Landour Plein-air

Curated by Arijeet Chanda, Landour Plein Air is an artistic celebration of nature, observation, and creative exchange set amidst the breathtaking Himalayan landscape of Landour. Bringing together artists from across India and abroad, the event offers a rare opportunity to paint directly from life while experiencing the region's unique light, architecture, forests, and mountain vistas.

More than a painting event, Landour Plein Air is a meeting of minds—where artists share techniques, perspectives, and experiences while learning from nature and from one another. Guided by Arijeet's philosophy that "if there is any art school, it is the plein air," the initiative seeks to inspire artistic growth, cultural dialogue, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.

Through this curated experience, Landour becomes both studio and classroom, reminding artists that the greatest lessons are often found outdoors, brush in hand, immersed in the landscape itself.

Himalayan Plein Air

Founded and curated by Arijeet Chanda, Himalayan Plein Air is an international gathering of artists set amidst the spectacular landscapes of the Indian Himalayas. The initiative brings together artists from diverse backgrounds to paint directly from nature, fostering creative exchange, learning, and cultural dialogue through the practice of plein air painting.

More than an event, Himalayan Plein Air is a celebration of observation, artistic growth, and the timeless tradition of working from life. Surrounded by mountain vistas, forests, villages, and changing Himalayan light, participating artists experience a unique environment that challenges, inspires, and enriches their creative practice.

For Arijeet, Himalayan Plein Air embodies his belief that some of the greatest artistic lessons are learned not in the studio, but in nature itself.

Arijeet has travelled extensively to participate in plein air painting events across India and abroad. Often saying, "If there is any art school, it is the plein air," he believes there is no substitute for painting directly from life. Plein air, a French term meaning "in the open air," challenges artists to work quickly as light, weather, and atmosphere constantly change.
